Athletic Recruitment

Don Bosco’s policy on Athletic Recruitment and specify guidelines that must be followed:

1. No one connected with Don Bosco shall approach, solicit or recruit any student to attend Don Bosco for athletic advantage. This applies to high school students .
2. If any coach or assistant coach is approached by any outside student or the parent/guardian of any student expressing an interest in attending Don Bosco or making an inquiry about Don Bosco’s sports program, the coach or assistant coach approached must direct the individual seeking information to contact Don Bosco’s Director of Admissions. Coaches or assistant coaches who are approached will not discuss Don Bosco or any aspect of its athletic program at this point. The Director of Admissions will interview any student and his parent/guardian who are referred by a coach or assistant coach. If the Director of Admissions, after his interviews, determines that there has been no athletic recruitment and that there is no intent to transfer to Don Bosco for athletic advantage, he will refer the student and his parent/guardian to the Athletic Director, if appropriate. The Athletic Director may thereafter refer the student to the appropriate coach.
3. Any coach or assistant coach who is contacted by any outside student or the parent/guardian of any student with respect to Don Bosco or its athletic program will, as soon as practicable thereafter, notify Don Bosco’s Athletic Director of the contact. The Athletic Director will then note the contact in writing to the Director of Admissions, specifying the facts and circumstances surrounding the contact.

I expect everyone to strictly follow these guidelines. Should the Director of Admissions or the Athletic Director have any questions, or if any questions should arise in the future, they may contact me directly for clarification. If any coach or assistant coach has any questions, he may seek clarification through the Athletic Director.
